Higher Quality

My brother, who understands the recording thing a lot better than I do, sent me some advice and recording plugins.  They should help a lot with the sound quality.  I'm excited to try them out.

New Song

The other day I sat down to finish "Hello, Bill" but doing the finishing touches sounded really boring so I laid down the drums and piano for a new song on the spot.  It has a faster, steady beat to it and I'm liking it so far.  It was one of those songs I didn't really have to think about.  The idea came and the tracks were laid down very smoothly and everything sounded pretty much how I wanted it to.  I wish all songs were like that.  Within the next week I should finish "Hello, Bill" and hopefully this new one too.

Hello, Bill

I have been doing the finishing touches on "Hello, Bill" and it should be posted soon.  It's crazy how it's really just the small things that make a song sound good.  Smooth transitions, the proper amount of time spent on a solo, when to use a certain harmony, dynamics, etc. really make or break a song.  It can see where a professional producer would be helpful.  Anyway, keep an eye out for "Hello, Bill" here, on my Facebook page, or on my myspace page (myspace.com/judedavismusic).

The Beginning

The first songs have begun to be recorded and the first shows are on their way!  I have completed recording two songs, which are called "Dahlonega" and "Side of the Road", which is a cover of a Ben Folds song which is a cover of a Lucinda Williams song.  They're both a little more on the mellow side of things.  There should be come more rocking songs coming soon, as well as some more nice mellow songs.  I'm having the first practice with the drummer tomorrow.  The other instruments will join up soon.  I'm hoping to begin performing in June.  I also hope we can find a good solid target audience so I will be focusing much of my energy on marketing the music to find people who will like my style once I finish recording.
